  • Jackson EMC Foundation awarded $81,246 in grants to local agencies, including $30,500 in Hall County where $10,500 went to St. Vincent DePaul Prince of Peace for rental assistance and $10K to Habitat for Humanity-Hall County for heating units (with funds raised via the Round Up program from 225,092 account holders).  AccessWDUN
  • A GoFundMe page launched by Haydn Ellis aims to help a Hall County family whose home burned on the 4100 block of Topsail Ridge on Dec. 30 (the goal was $5,000) and it has quickly raised nearly twice the target through community support.  AccessWDUN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hudson (the first baby of 2026 in Hall County) was born at 2:26 a.m. Jan. 1 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Parents Amanda and Zachary from Dahlonega welcomed him, and the family received a gift basket from the hospital's auxiliary.  AccessWDUN
  • After several house fires this week in Hall, White, and Jackson counties, Hall County Fire Rescue reviewed basic fire safety tips to help residents keep fireplaces clean and space heaters three feet from flammable materials (HCFR advice).  97.5 Glory
