  • Sawnee EMC is returning about $6 million in patronage capital refunds to over 137,500 current and former members who received electric service in 2008/2009 — the average refund is $43, with eligible current members receiving a credit on their March bill and former members getting a check in April.  AccessWDUN

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Gainesville dropped six cents to $2.60 per gallon today, according to AAA, compared to $2.66 last week and slightly under the state average of $2.64. National prices remain higher as cheaper winter blend gasoline and low crude oil prices keep local costs down.  97.5 Glory

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Hall County School District announced Director of Digital Convergence Eddie Millwood (31 years of service) will retire at the end of the 2025 to 2026 school year. He has helped modernize digital tools to support teaching and operations.  AccessWDUN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Retired K9 Timo from Hall County Sheriff’s Office recovered from paralysis after treatment by UGA veterinarians and is now off antibiotics. He even attended his retirement party in August dressed in a tuxedo, marking a heartening turnaround.  WSB-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Gainesville’s Jody Davis will be inducted into the Chicago Cubs’ Hall of Fame this year. The former two-time All-Star catcher won a Gold Glove in 1986 and led the team in home runs from 1983 to 1986 (he is also a North Hall High School Athletics Hall of Fame member).  97.5 Glory
