Sawnee EMC is returning about $6 million in patronage capital refunds to over 137,500 current and former members who received electric service in 2008/2009 — the average refund is $43, with eligible current members receiving a credit on their March bill and former members getting a check in April.

Gas prices in Gainesville dropped six cents to $2.60 per gallon today, according to AAA, compared to $2.66 last week and slightly under the state average of $2.64.

National prices remain higher as cheaper winter blend gasoline and low crude oil prices keep local costs down.
