  • Javier and Claudia Cruz will open Roma New York Pizzeria on Riverside Drive in Gainesville, replacing City Park Pizza with traditional Italian food and New York style pizza served in early February.  The Gainesville Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brenau University and the High Museum are collecting data in a two-year arts and health study to track how art visits affect adult well-being (data collection will continue until 2027). Brenau students use wearable devices while Atlanta-based Performance Hypothesis supports the project.  97.5 Glory
  • Award-winning country band Lonestar will perform at The Hall at Bourbon Brothers in Gainesville this week + tickets with reserved seating are on sale.  The Gainesville Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Winter Storm Fern passed quickly with little ice, defying predictions for Hall County. A pedestrian was seen on Bank Street in Gainesville Monday, Jan. 26 as residents noted milder conditions.  The Gainesville Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Frigid temperatures prompt several warming centers across northeast Georgia. In Gainesville, the Salvation Army will provide extra bed space at its White Flag shelter (711 Dorsey St) on a first-come, first-served basis; centers in Gwinnett, White and Lumpkin counties remain open with waived ParkPass fees and set hours.  AccessWDUN
