  • In December, the GDOL reported that Gainesville’s unemployment fell to 2.5% with a labor force increase of 198 and total jobs reaching an all-time high of 109,300, aligning with gains seen across the region.  AccessWDUN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Georgia DOT is preparing for a winter storm that will affect many roads starting early Saturday. Crews began brine treatments Friday at 7 a.m. and motorists are urged to avoid travel on interstates & drive with caution during heavy snowfall.  FOX 5 Atlanta

HEALTH NEWS

  • Six NGHS workers were awarded more than $55,000 through the Change Grants program to improve patient care at NGMC Gainesville and NGMC Braselton – projects include a bariatric surgery classroom, specialized supply carts in the emergency department, and other enhancements.  97.5 Glory
  • Six Northeast Georgia Health System employees were awarded more than $55,000 in grants to fund projects addressing autism care and infant loss, fostering improvements in patient care across the system.  The Gainesville Times
