  • Lanier Islands Resort announced a multi-million-dollar room refresh at its Legacy Lodge and Lake Houses and launched Georgia’s only night-lit Par 3 course, The Six, at its Legacy Golf Course.   • Lakeview Academy has announced that Pam Doig (a veteran educator) will serve as its new Lower School Director starting in the 2026 to 2027 school year. The school also thanked Mary Steensma for five years of service as she retires.  AccessWDUN

  • Flowery Branch boys won their region opener in a competitive soccer match this weekend. The win builds momentum as they prepare for upcoming tournament games.  The Gainesville Times
  • Cherokee Bluff seniors Claire Carlson and Bristol Kersh led their team to a 66-34 win over Ridgeland in the second round of high school basketball playoffs held Feb. 27 in Flowery Branch.  The Gainesville Times
  • North Hall beat Pepperell in a baseball game, taking two wins from their rival and showing strong local talent.  The Gainesville Times
  • The East Hall boys defeated Jefferson on Feb. 28 in Gainesville to reach the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2015.  The Gainesville Times
  • Gainesville’s top-ranked boys team won their second-round state playoff game on Feb. 28 at Davis-Hill Gym against Evans and will host state quarterfinals on Wednesday at the same venue + key player KJ White made decisive plays.  The Gainesville Times
  • The Lakeview Academy girls lost 51 to 48 in the GIAA Class 3A state final to Terrell Academy on Feb. 27 in Columbus.  The Gainesville Times
