- ➤ City officials and local business owners expect a lively day when Mutts on Main returns to downtown Gainesville on March 22nd with pet adoptions and vendor sales. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and feature K9 disc dog shows at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.—law enforcement meet and greets at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., a pet fashion show with contests and a live acoustic performance. 97.5 Glory
- ➤ A GoFund account was created for victims of a mobile home park fire that left a family with nothing but the essentials as they already received beds and bedroom furniture but still need personal items and TVs—16 donations totaling $1,450 were received by Wednesday night. 97.5 Glory

- ➤ A massive fire broke out at a mobile home park (5700 block of Willow Way in Buford) on March 19 leaving six people without homes as one mobile home was lost, nearby units were damaged, and crews searched for hot spots while investigators probed a possible fire pit cause. FOX 5 Atlanta
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After over 20 years of planning and utility work, county officials announced that construction on the Sardis Connector—a four-lane divided highway linking Dawsonville Highway at Sardis Road with Thompson Bridge Road at Mount Vernon Road—will soon begin with land clearing set for later in March and the roadway opening to the public in fall. The total cost is $84.3 million, with GDOT paying $56 million and county officials noting that tax vote results may affect future road projects. AccessWDUN

- ➤ Johnson girls soccer won 3-1 over North Hall on Tuesday, March 18th at The Brickyard to move into second place in Region 6-3A after rallying from an early setback with goals by Bridget Higgins and Gissel Garcia—who scored twice, one off a deflection. - ➤ West Hall won an important high school baseball game on March 18 in Oakwood using strong pitching and smart baserunning in the Region 8-3A series, and the team boosted its postseason hopes.
