- ➤ The University of Georgia’s new School of Nursing will be named after Kay Ivester, wife of local education benefactor and former Coca-Cola chairman Doug Ivester. The naming was announced during a private ceremony. The Gainesville Times

- ➤ The Georgia Forestry Commission reported first quarter 2026 was the state's eighth driest period on record, fueling wildfire risks including a recent incident on Buzzard Mountain while campfire and outdoor burning bans remain in effect in the Chattahoochee and Barrow County (and burn permits are on hold in Gainesville). 97.5 Glory
