- ➤ Several local residents gathered on Saturday at Alta Vista Cemetery to honor deceased law enforcement officers by placing American flags on graves and near a memorial for those cremated—plans call for extending the tribute to officers buried elsewhere in the county. Lynne Cox from NGHS was named Employee of the Year, Sgt. Tyler Morrison of Flowery Branch PD was honored as Officer of the Year by the Hall County Optimist Club, and Jackie Jones of LCCA was appointed to the SkillsUSA Georgia Board of Directors. 97.5 Glory
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Severe weather swept through Atlanta counties, causing heavy hail, a roof collapse injuring four in Forsyth County, and a fatal tree fall in Fulton County that killed a ten-year-old — a lightning strike also burned a home in Gwinnett County. - ➤ A 52-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man remain in Hall County Jail after facing a combined 41 charges mostly for theft, and officials said further details will be available when law enforcement offices open today (with bonds set at $281,500 and $103,900 respectively). 97.5 Glory

- ➤ Gas prices in Gainesville went up by two cents from last Monday to $2.91 while state prices rose to $2.92 and the national average dropped to $3.16. Falling oil prices and extra oil from OPEC — an oil group — have kept the increase small. 97.5 Glory

- ➤ The National Weather Service confirmed a brief tornado appeared over the northern part of Lake Lanier on Friday evening—winds reached 90 mph that uprooted trees and flipped docks—though no injuries or structural damage were reported. AccessWDUN
- ➤ After two nights of stormy weather, Gainesville — forecasts show clear skies today with a high near 69 and mostly clear conditions tonight, though rain and possible thunderstorms will begin Tuesday night and continue with precipitation chances between 40% and 70% through Saturday.
