CRIME NEWS

  • A Gainesville man and woman were arrested in Hiawasse on drug charges after a traffic stop on Highway 66 led to a search that found methamphetamine and marijuana — both remain in jail with active warrants from Clay County and Hall County.  97.5 Glory
  • Suzanne Mericle, 62, went to a bond hearing on May 6 for murder charges after she fatally shot her boyfriend on March 8 in Gainesville—officers later found live rounds and spent shell casings from two guns in the sewage lines at her $1.5 million Bayridge Drive home, details that point to an alleged cover-up.  The Gainesville Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hall County authorities warned residents that traffic will be heavy today due to Drift Atlanta and Gridlife events (held at Michelin Raceway in the Chestnut Mountain area). The sheriff’s office said regular traffic on Winder Highway will be detoured at 10:30 p.m. each night (diverting southbound vehicles to Ga. 211/Tanners Mill Road and northbound vehicles to Benefield Road) and advised drivers to allow extra time for delays.  AccessWDUN

  • NGMC Gainesville recently added four new da Vinci 5 surgical robots to offer more patients safe, precise surgery.
