- ➤ Gainesville man Derrick Lamar Cleveland, 40, was arrested twice within one week for drug charges & police said he was caught with 3.5 grams of fentanyl on May 1 and again with 9 grams on May 6 leading to trafficking charges, and he remains in jail with no bond. 97.5 Glory
- ➤ Rebecca Benefield Vinson, a 54-year-old from Flowery Branch, pleaded not guilty on April 29 at Hall County Superior Court to charges of stealing over $25,000 from a Gainesville non-profit now known as Bloom Enterprises & previously Randy and Friends after her March 2024 arrest. AccessWDUN

- ➤ The City of Gainesville announced the Chicken Festival Scholarship Fund winners at the latest city council meeting. Jackson Daniel earned $2,000 while Kylianne Brown and Madison Chastain each received $1,500—supporting college students studying poultry science or related fields. AccessWDUN
- ➤ At Gainesville High School on Friday, May 16, the school will award two honorary diplomas to Dr. Faith Simpson and Scott Rutherford as it continues a tradition begun in 2009. Simpson, who spent over 20 years teaching and coaching, + Rutherford, known for his volunteer work with local athletics, were nominated by the community and named by Principal Roberto Rivera.
