  • A Gainesville man (34) remains jailed on a $10,900 bond after he allegedly attacked his landlord and her friend at a residence on Bristol Way in Flowery Branch and now faces charges for elder exploitation, battery under the Family Violence Act, and simple assault.  97.5 Glory
  • Oakwood man James A. Smith, 44, remains in jail without bond after a Saturday traffic stop for a window tint violation led officers to detect a marijuana odor and find over five ounces of marijuana, a firearm, and drug-related objects—he now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.  97.5 Glory
  • Anderson Francisco Murillo-Martinez, a 22-year-old man wanted for a February 2024 rape in Hall County, was arrested in Santa Rosa County, Florida on traffic and drug charges and extradited to Georgia on May 11—he now is held without bond facing charges for rape, aggravated assault and an immigration hold.  AccessWDUN

  • On May 12, Hall County Schools honored over 100 educators and staff in its Night of Honor, where 36 teachers received Teacher of the Year awards and several retirees were recognized for their long service. Two teachers marked a full circle moment as their schools closed and merged into Everwood Elementary—highlighting a transition that reflects both the past and the future of local education.  AccessWDUN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville launched a Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump Therapy program to deliver high-dose chemotherapy directly to the liver for patients with liver cancer (including metastatic colorectal and bile duct forms). The robotic procedure is performed by a team of specialists (which allows smaller incisions and quicker recovery) to help shrink tumors for potential surgery.  97.5 Glory
