  • Norfolk Southern donated $300,000 to renovate NGMC Gainesville's pediatric playground, which was closed in 2019 due to safety concerns. The announcement was made Friday at Pope Family Garden at Yellow Tower, and the upgrade will include inclusive features with help from Hope for Hall (a local organization).  AccessWDUN

CRIME NEWS

  • Alvin Reginald Maull, 44, was arrested by the Hall County Sheriff's Office after a fight turned into a stabbing in the parking lot of a business on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville on Saturday, May 17 — the 43-year-old victim received treatment at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Maull now faces one count of aggravated assault.  AccessWDUN
  • Gainesville police said K9 Ryker died on Thursday from a sudden medical condition while on duty — he joined the team in October 2021 and worked with his partner, Officer Quick, to help arrest criminals.  WSB-TV
  • Gainesville law enforcement arrested three men featured on a wanted lineup—22-year-old Anderson Francisco Murillo-Martinez was booked into Hall County Jail last Sunday on charges including rape after extradition from Santa Rosa County, 32-year-old Michael Gonzalez-Powell was arrested on May 8th on Otilia Drive for giving false information, and 43-year-old Percy Lamar Rucker was arrested on May 9th.  97.5 Glory
