CRIME NEWS

  • A verbal dispute on Browns Bridge Road on May 17 escalated into a stabbing that injured a 43-year-old man who walked to Subway for help and was later hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center—suspect Alvin Reginald Maull fled the scene but was arrested around 12:30 p.m. near a QT convenience store and now faces a felony count of aggravated assault.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • A 29-year-old Oakwood man was arrested for an attempted armed robbery at a Texaco on Browns Bridge Road on May 15th after he produced a handgun to demand cash, the clerk called law enforcement and he fled on foot but was later found on Industrial Boulevard where he now faces charges — armed robbery, aggravated assault, and illegal firearm possession.  FOX 5 Atlanta

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today through Friday, the road between Crepe Myrtle Lane and Blue Ridge Drive on Valley Road will be closed for water main improvements—residents are urged to follow detour signs and drive carefully.  AccessWDUN
  • The Hall County Planning Commission will review proposals at its June 16 meeting—these include a plan for First State Bank's first branch on Thompson Bridge Road, an office/warehouse on Winder Highway, a convenience store on Athens Highway, and projects for repackaging animal products and model homes on Friendship Circle. The proposals follow earlier plans for an industrial park and a 700-home development in the Chestnut Mountain area.  97.5 Glory

HEALTH NEWS

  • Since 2020, Northeast Georgia Health System — in partnership with the Region 2 Trauma Advisory Committee — has provided over 300 units of blood to more than 200 patients, giving prompt care for major blood loss before hospital arrival. The pilot program proved that paramedics can safely administer transfusions and continues to expand lifesaving treatment in our community.  97.5 Glory
