- ➤ Gainesville will hold Memorial Day events this weekend, including a service at Rock Creek Veterans Park on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. featuring keynote Sloane Guy & a parade on Monday starting at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church on Green Street with road closures in place. AccessWDUN
- ➤ Residents and business leaders are raising concerns over GDOT’s plan to reconstruct Green St (which would remove many historic trees) and alter its historic charm. - ➤ The city council announced seven scholarship winners for the 2026 Chicken Festival, awarding $2,000 to EmmaGrace Wilkes, $1,500 to Kylianne Brown, and $1,000 each to five others.
