  • LifeLine Animal Project will hold free adoptions weekly—an effort prompted by owner surrenders that have more than doubled since April 2024 as many pets are given up by their owners.  WSB-TV
  • The Hall County Farmers Market will return to the Midland Greenway next week and run every Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with vendors selling locally grown produce, meats and baked goods, sponsored by Gainesville Parks and Recreation. A summer kick-off party will be held on May 31 at Crescent Drive from 8:00 a.m. to noon — it will feature kids’ activities, free coffee, snacks and seed giveaways.  97.5 Glory
  • Six nonprofits in Hall County will share $46,690 in grants approved by the Jackson EMC Foundation Board of Directors, with some groups serving only local residents and others serving additional counties. The organizations include Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, The Next Stop Foundation, SISU of Georgia, Angel House of Georgia, Hope for the Journey of North Metro, and Northeast Georgia Speech Center — support that will boost local services.  97.5 Glory

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews responded to two fires in Hall County on Sunday at a two-story house on Bluffton Drive off Athens Highway and a single-family home on Garden Boulevard off Thompson Bridge Road; neighbors helped one resident escape, two people were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and the first house is likely totaled while the second fire quickly ended but resulted in the deaths of two cats & a dog, and both causes are under investigation.  AccessWDUN
  • Two house fires on Sunday night kept firefighting crews busy when a two-story home on Bluffton Drive sent residents to safety and a single-family home on Garden Boulevard showed smoke—two people were taken to the hospital for evaluation and two cats with a dog died, although no serious injuries were reported.  97.5 Glory

HEALTH NEWS

  • Atlanta-based transport company Norfolk Southern donated $300,000 to NGMC Gainesville to build a new outdoor therapeutic playground for young patients—Syfan Logistics contributed another $100,000—as the hospital seeks additional donations to complete construction.  WSB-TV
  • Northeast Georgia Health System will open its new 40-bed, 61,000-square-foot rehabilitation center on Limestone Parkway on June 2 in Gainesville—announced on May 23 to boost local healthcare services.  The Gainesville Times
