ECONOMY NEWS

  • A report by Stacker ranked the 50 highest-paying jobs in Gainesville for those with a two-year degree using Bureau of Labor Statistics data—transportation, storage, and distribution managers topped the list with a median wage of $110,310 among 140 employees. The report shows that two-year degree holders earn about 18% more than high school graduates and face lower tuition costs and student debt compared to bachelor’s degree holders—data from May 2024 underpins these findings.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Gainesville announced that Main Street between Spring and Broad will be closed on June 5 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on June 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for an event on the Main Street Parking Deck (parking alongside will be unavailable) so drivers are urged to choose alternate routes.  AccessWDUN
  • Georgia will begin issuing one-time tax refunds this week after House Bill 112 passed during this session. Eligible taxpayers who filed their 2023 and 2024 returns on time will receive refunds up to $250 for single filers, up to $375 for heads of household and up to $500 for married couples filing jointly.  97.5 Glory
