ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Gainesville motorcycle rider, Dustin Rodney Turner, was seriously injured with a fractured ankle when a truck driven by Candy Marie Wright of Dahlonega failed to stop at a stop sign along Lula Road near Clarks Bridge Road on Sunday night—he was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center as authorities closed the intersection for 90 minutes.  AccessWDUN
  • An 84-year-old visitor from Alabama crashed a golf cart through the French doors of a hotel at Lanier Islands Resort on Saturday around 1 p.m. after her brakes reportedly failed and she swerved to avoid pedestrians—she was uninjured and the incident also damaged two chairs.  97.5 Glory

  • A report from moneyinc.com named Gainesville High School one of the 30 best high schools in Ga, ranking it 27th behind Peachtree Ridge High and ahead of Roswell High.   • State Sen. Drew Echols was named the 2025 Freshman Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce on June 9—he was recognized for his work as a new lawmaker.  The Gainesville Times
  • Hall firefighters are asking commissioners to approve $185K for EMT and paramedic training that will certify local emergency workers—officials say the funding will support several students.  The Gainesville Times
