  • Books-A-Million is leaving its longtime Lakeshore Mall location and will relocate to a new spot about a mile away in Gainesville—continuing its service in the area.  The Gainesville Times

  • Hall County Sheriff's Office posted a missing person report for 62 year old Kristen Brosseau who was last seen leaving her Gainesville home on the 5300 block of Valina Avenue at 9:30 a.m. in a white 2021 Ford Explorer while wearing blue jean shorts, black shoes and a blue and purple T shirt— anyone with details is urged to call 911 or contact HCSO at 770-536-881.  AccessWDUN
  • Rhonda Ann Turner, 52, from Banks County and Pickens County, South Carolina, turned herself in to the Hall County Jail on Friday after biting and attempting to stab a 63-year-old man at a Whitehall Road residence on Tuesday, June 10th—arrest warrants for aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery were issued and she is held without bond.  97.5 Glory
  • A 52-year-old woman who allegedly threatened a 63-year-old man with a knife and bit his chest turned herself in at a residence on Whitehall Road in Lula and now faces felony aggravated assault + misdemeanor battery charges.  AccessWDUN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brenau University teamed with Buford City Schools, Forsyth County Schools, Gainesville City School System & Hall County Schools to launch its TigerTEACH program to help with teacher shortages. The program offers courses that lead to state certified teaching credentials, with classes having begun on May 5 and more students set to join this fall.  AccessWDUN
  • The Gainesville Board of Education adopted a spending resolution on Monday, June 16 to fund operations for July and August of FY2026—authorizing Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Williams to spend up to roughly $11 million as the board works on the FY2026 budget. This resolution was needed because the board did not have a full budget in place by the June 30 deadline.  AccessWDUN
