  • Gainesville Police Officer Jameson Tate arrested many drunk drivers last year and earned a state award—showing his work to keep streets safe from alcohol-impaired driving.  The Gainesville Times
  • Flowery Branch man Derick Shannon Allison, 49, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Winder Highway near Chestnut Drive after allegedly resisting arrest when deputies discovered an active warrant; he was tasered twice, taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and now faces charges of obstruction of an officer, attempted removal of a weapon from a public official, and possession of methamphetamine—his arrest followed a bench warrant for failing to appear on DUI and following too closely charges.  AccessWDUN
