ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Hall County deputies had a close call on Sunday morning on Interstate 985 when a truck driver failed to move over for their marked patrol car during a vehicle breakdown—one deputy suffered a minor injury from a sideswipe while the truck driver received a citation.  WSB-TV

  • Governor Brian Kemp announced that King's Hawaiian will invest $54 million in its Oakwood facility in Hall County — adding 135 jobs and a new production line for extra Pretzel Bites flavors set to start in the second quarter. The expansion will create openings in management, maintenance, food safety, and quality control — boosting the local economy.  AccessWDUN

  • Governor Brian Kemp announced that King’s Hawaiian will invest about $54 million to expand its Oakwood facility and add over 135 jobs — the expansion will add a new production line for Pretzel Bites set to start in the second quarter of 2026 — which is expected to strengthen local economic growth.  97.5 Glory
  • The Georgia Department of Labor reported that in June, Georgia added 9,100 new jobs to top 5 million while the unemployment rate held at 3.5%. Labor Commissioner Barbara Rivera Holmes said that over the past year, state jobs increased by 29,800 in key sectors such as health care — marking a historic milestone.  AccessWDUN

  • Hall County officials have called for a referendum to place the SPLOST IX program on the Nov. 4 ballot, which would renew the county's 1% sales tax that has funded projects for 40 years. Voters will decide if the six-year plan — estimated to raise about $440 million for projects like park upgrades and road expansions — should continue the program.  97.5 Glory
  • Congressmen Andrew Clyde and Rich McCormick introduced the Lanier Parks Local Access Act to let local partners managing Lake Lanier recreational sites use collected user fees at any park—providing needed flexibility to keep sites open amid staffing shortages at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The bill aims to update current law that restricts fee usage to the park where fees are collected.  97.5 Glory
