  • On Friday evening, Syfan Logistics hosted a 5k at Midland Greenway in Gainesville with 400 runners supporting Love Your Story, a nonprofit that helps families impacted by disabilities. The race began at 6:15 p.m.—last year's event raised $50,000 for The Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.  AccessWDUN

CRIME NEWS

  • Gainesville authorities seized over 705 pounds of meth hidden in a truckload of cucumbers and arrested two traffickers as part of a nationwide crackdown on Mexican drug cartels—federal agents have made similar seizures in several states since January 20th.  97.5 Glory

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Flowery Branch City Council approved the first reading of a proposed 74 townhome development at 6300 Jones Road near Lake Lanier—Mayor Ed Asbridge broke a tied vote. Heritage Group Homes, LLC submitted the plan for 22.17 acres with 54 front-entry and 20 rear-entry garage units, and the homes are expected to cost between $600,000 and $700,000.  AccessWDUN

  • After three losing seasons, the Flowery Branch Falcons hired coach Michael Perry and a new staff who focus on selfless play and building versatility in summer practice — key skills for a strong season kickoff in 29 days.
