  • On Friday, Gainesville held its First Friday Concerts at the Gainesville Square while other regional events ran, and today the 27th Annual St. Jude Benefit Singing begins at 4 p.m. at Lanier Technical College in Gainesville to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  AccessWDUN
  • Abby Loggins, president of the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County, announced that the Diaper Bank of North Georgia reached a milestone by distributing its one millionth diaper to local families, ensuring access to essential supplies.   • On Thursday afternoon, a three-vehicle crash on McEver Road left an 80-year-old man dead when a Nissan Sentra hit a stopped Honda Civic at Vineyard Way—southbound lanes were blocked for 90 minutes as three others, including a 10-year-old passenger, suffered minor injuries.  97.5 Glory

CRIME NEWS

  • Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a pickup on Hog Mountain and Capitola Farms Road for a lane violation and found 22 grams of meth with a K9 before investigators searched the suspect’s residence and seized over one kilogram of meth, three guns, and 105 grams of marijuana (valued at $3,200) before arresting Flowery Branch man James Rondy Andrews (50), who now faces felony charges and is held without bond at jail.  97.5 Glory

  • Everwood Elementary, Hall County's newest school, opened its doors on Friday, August 1 as hundreds of students were greeted by faculty—marking the start of the new school year.  The Gainesville Times
