  • After legal disputes over the estate of local philanthropist Peggy E. Walters, the Walters family reached a final settlement on August 4 that upholds her 2021 will and names her daughters as executors. They will distribute over $4.5 million to eight local charities — fulfilling her wishes and preserving the legacy in our community.  AccessWDUN

CRIME NEWS

  • Oakwood Walmart employees Nakiya Denise Galbreath and Theresa Joan Levine admitted they stole nearly $1,260 in goods by pushing a cart of unpaid items outside the store on July 29th and July 28th — the two separate thefts led to their arrest and transfer to Hall County Jail — in separate incidents.  97.5 Glory

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Gainesville will hold a free freshwater monitoring workshop at Linwood Nature Preserve on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will learn to measure water quality—temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and conductivity—and must preregister by 5 p.m. Aug. 21.  97.5 Glory

  • Gainesville Police Department recently enhanced community engagement with new E-Bikes provided by Recon Power Bikes in partnership with the Gainesville Police Foundation—these bikes feature emergency lights and sirens to improve patrol efficiency in congested and off-road areas.  97.5 Glory
