  • A high-speed chase on Aug.6 ended when a stolen truck crashed on Candler Road, killing Agustin Rivera and throwing a dog from its bed—Davis, 35 from Jefferson, was tasered and arrested on charges including murder, vehicular homicide, DUI, theft and marijuana possession.  AccessWDUN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hall County Schools’ head of human resources, Brad Brown, was honored with a state award for his leadership and service in education — recognition of his contributions to the school system.  The Gainesville Times

  • Hall County Administrator Zach Propes explained on Mornings on Maine Street that the county’s one percent SPLOST funds major road projects like Spout Springs Phase II widening, judicial expansion, and a new 200-acre park — voters will decide its future on the November ballot.  AccessWDUN

  • At the Sept. 15 meeting, the Hall County Planning Commission will review a plan to rezone 251 acres at the intersection of Simpson Road and Greenway Road for a nearly 400-home development of 394 housing units.
