  • Today, Gainesville hosts Radio 80’s Band performing at Boot Barn Hall at 7:30 p.m. — a highlight in a busy weekend that saw Food Truck Friday wrap up its season yesterday at Lake Lanier Olympic Park and features additional concerts, movies and theater in nearby areas.  AccessWDUN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Tesla driver from Gainesville left his travel lane before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at a convenience store on Falcon Parkway and Martin Road in Flowery Branch—striking several parked vehicles and an awning—and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries.  97.5 Glory

CRIME NEWS

  • An employee of a Gainesville dental office—Felicia Waycaster—was arrested for allegedly stealing almost $30,000 by manipulating accounts between January 1 and June 11 and she posted a $22,200 bond Tuesday.  97.5 Glory

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brenau University is busy as first-year students moved into Crudup, Van Hoose, Yonah, Virginia, West and Skleder halls on Wednesday and Thursday while student leaders moved in over the weekend and returning students move in today—classes begin Monday and Welcome Week events will follow.  97.5 Glory

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hall County Board of Commissioners approved a $3 million purchase of 1.6 acres at Browns Bridge Road and Florence Drive to expand the Government Center campus. The county will use the property as temporary space for remodeling, storage, and its future elections center.  AccessWDUN
  • The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the FY2026 bill that includes $395-million for the senior community service employment program—down $10-million from FY2025—even as frozen funds left low-income seniors facing homelessness, with one Hall County senior now living in a tent. The House Appropriations Committee will review the funding soon, and officials say the program is a vital support for seniors.  AccessWDUN
