  • Two people who were reported missing after tubing on the Chattahoochee River between Highway 115 East and Duncan Bridge Road were found safe Saturday night at a residence in Cleveland—White County Public Safety said personal belongings found along the river helped guide search efforts by several agencies.  AccessWDUN
  • On Saturday, two individuals went missing while tubing on the Chattahoochee River between Highway 115 East and Duncan Bridge Road, sparking a coordinated search by multiple emergency agencies and local guides—by 9:14 p.m. they were confirmed safe at a residence in Cleveland.  97.5 Glory

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Gainesville increased a penny last week to $2.90 for regular gas, while the statewide average rose to $2.91 and the national price held at $3.13. AAA said storms during peak hurricane season may affect fuel supply—prices are not expected to change drastically.  97.5 Glory

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Agriculture reported a spike in door-to-door solicitations from unlicensed pest control providers, noting 175 violations this year. Residents are urged to verify that any operator has a valid license — required by state law — before hiring to ensure safety.  97.5 Glory
  • The Hall County Board Commissioners denied Cook Communities’ rezoning request for a residential development on Yellow Creek Road during the Aug. 14 meeting—local residents opposed the plan citing concerns over a nearby wetland and increased traffic. Cook Communities had reduced the project from 253 to 191 lots and proposed preserving much of the property via a land trust.  AccessWDUN
