ECONOMY NEWS

  • Hall County recorded a 3% unemployment rate in July—down from 3.2% a year ago—and its labor force dropped by 477 to 108,702. The county ended July with 107,900 jobs, which is 900 fewer than the previous month and 500 more than last year.  97.5 Glory

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.S. News and World Report released its rankings for the 2025 to 26 public high schools, showing how Gainesville and Hall County schools compare across Georgia and the nation—highlighting both strong programs and areas needing improvement.  The Gainesville Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senior Judge C. Andrew Fuller of Gainesville, who retired at the end of 2022, will temporarily help the Georgia Court of Appeals — the judges voted unanimously for his role.  97.5 Glory
  • Former council member Zack Thompson resigned in June to focus on his campaign; he remains the only qualifier and is the presumptive mayor for Gainesville in 2026.  The Gainesville Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • North Forsyth's Lady Raiders swept a doubleheader against South Forsyth on August 21 with wins of 9-2 and 11-9 — led by Addison Walker's complete game performance. Buford beat Mill Creek 10-0 and North Hall defeated Pickens 10-1 — with North Hall now tied with Lumpkin County ahead of a Tuesday matchup in Dahlonega.  AccessWDUN
