ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews from Hall County Fire Rescue responded around 4 a.m. Sunday to a small house fire on Smallwood Road in south Gainesville and quickly confined the flames to an attic with no injuries while the Fire Marshal’s Office continues its investigation.  AccessWDUN

  • Doug Ivester of Gainesville won the Premier New Development Award at the Georgia Downtown Association Conference last week for the Gainesville Renaissance project— a building that completed the fourth side of the historic square and spurred hundreds of millions in downtown investment. EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Georgia Technical College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 29 to reopen Purcell Hall as the home of its Electrical Systems program. The $4.75 million renovations, funded by state appropriations — provide hands-on training for high-demand electrical careers — continue Purcell Hall's legacy.  AccessWDUN

  • The City of Gainesville canceled the general election on November 4 — all unopposed candidates will be certified as elected by the election superintendent. A special election for City Council Ward 2 and Board of Education District 2 seats will proceed as scheduled.  AccessWDUN
