  • The Gainesville Parks and Recreation Foundation has been named a finalist for the Levitt Music Series Grant that will offer up to $40,000 a year over three years to support free concerts in public spaces. Public voting to choose the grant recipient ends September 15—ensuring community input in the selection process.  AccessWDUN

FINANCE NEWS

  • Four tickets for Saturday night’s Powerball drawing will pay $100,000 each after being sold in Georgia—one sold at the Shell Food Mart in Flowery Branch and another purchased online by a Gainesville resident.  97.5 Glory

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • David Bach, a newly-graduated state trooper from Barrow County, was assigned to the Gainesville post after finishing 34 weeks of training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center — he now serves with the Georgia State Patrol.  97.5 Glory
  • Today at 3:00, the Hall County Commission meets at the government center to review rezoning applications for two industrial sites and two subdivisions—county planning staff recommended denying a rezoning for an industrial park in the 5400 block of Winder Highway and approved applications for a 700-unit housing development and a 323-unit mixed residential project.  97.5 Glory
