The 56th Helen Oktoberfest began Saturday with a parade in Helen, and the Douglas + Kay Ivester Foundation donated $38K to the Gainesville Ballet Company for its spring performance at Brenau University from March 12-14.
Gainesville’s 8th Latino Fest will take place on Sept. 26 along the Midland Greenway.

The average gasoline price in Gainesville is now $4.00 + an increase of 11 cents from last week, as AAA reports statewide and national averages of $4.01 and $4.31 driven by rising crude oil costs.
