COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hall County Animal Services said the animal shelter at 1688 Barber Road is dangerously full of cats and is calling for adopters, fosters — and rescues to help save lives. Walk-in visits are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  AccessWDUN
  • The City of Gainesville and the Gainesville Jaycees will host the annual Mule Camp Market on Oct.10—12 at the Midtown Greenway, where vendor booths, a concert stage, and food vendors will serve visitors. The event will run Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with downtown parking and trolleys available to help with transport.  AccessWDUN
  • Free foster parent training sessions—held at Element Church on Pine Valley Road—will support Hall County foster parents this weekend.  The Gainesville Times
  • A group home is proposed on Cleveland Highway in Gainesville to offer temporary housing for men who have completed drug rehabilitation — the plan will help them transition after treatment.  The Gainesville Times
  • Gainesville will host the 7th Annual Latino Fest at Midland Greenway on Saturday, September 27 from 3 to 9 p.m.—this family event will showcase Latino art, music, food and vendors.  AccessWDUN

CULTURE NEWS

  • After a five-year pause, Lanier Islands Resort will bring back Magical Nights of Lights with a new driving tour starting November 15. The event will run nightly from 5—10 p.m. until January 4 and will feature animated light displays, a dedicated radio station, and stops at Holiday Headquarters at GameChanger and License to Chill Snow Island.  97.5 Glory

  • Flowery Branch's Falcons posted a dominating win against East Forsyth on September 25 at Half Mile Stadium near Gainesville—earning their first five-game win streak since 2021.  The Gainesville Times
