COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Last Friday, Flowery Branch High School community surprised parking lot guard Ms. Len with a new 2014 Nissan Altima—donated and detailed by Christian Brothers Automotive and local partners to cover repair and registration costs. The act helped Ms. Len during her difficult financial times and showed strong community support.  97.5 Glory

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of North Georgia’s accelerated BSN program—ranked No. 5 nationally by RegisteredNursing.org—is the only public nursing program in Georgia to earn this honor. Launched in January 2023, the program teaches its third cohort now and will begin its fourth cohort in January 2026.  97.5 Glory

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Several high school football games in northeast Georgia experienced lightning delays during thunderstorms Friday night, including the Cherokee Bluff-Oconee County game aired on 97.5 Glory FM. Heavy rains produced minor flooding & traffic hazards in low-lying areas, with Gainesville airport recording just over one inch of rain as a tropical disturbance is expected to bring more rainfall.  97.5 Glory
  • The FOX 5 Storm Team tracked Tropical Cyclone Nine, which formed Saturday near Cuba and is expected to strengthen into Hurricane Imelda early next week, potentially bringing heavy rain and flooding to south Georgia and metro Atlanta + forecast models remain divided on its track. Residents are advised to stay alert as the weather system nears the coast.  FOX 5 Atlanta

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Gainesville Fire Department is set to receive its first custom-built Heavy Rescue Truck — a multi-tool apparatus costing over $1.3 million — after Pierce Manufacturing in Wisconsin completed final inspections. The truck will be delivered between October 9 and October 15 and be stationed at 725 Pine Street.  97.5 Glory

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sept. 27, 2025, Lanier Christian’s runner Josiah Dolan took an early lead at the Hall County championships at the North Hall Community Center—North Hall earned both team titles.  The Gainesville Times
  • Lakeview Academy’s football team defeated Riverside Prep on September 26 at Maginnis Field when Makhi Burch caught a touchdown and Ryker Kohler scored twice + the game showcased a strong performance by the Lions.  The Gainesville Times
  • On Aug. 29, sixth-ranked North Hall beat Pickens in Gainesville—quarterback Alex Schlieman led key plays while the Trojans have a bye week before facing Greater Atlanta Christian on Oct. 10.  The Gainesville Times
  • Gainesville high school football team defeated Johns Creek 67-0 at City Park Stadium on Sept 26th—demonstrating a strong defense. The team will face Seckinger in Buford on Oct 3rd.  The Gainesville Times
  • Lanier Christian won its debut home game by a shutout as William Martin scored the only touchdown for the Lightning—preventing the other team from scoring.  The Gainesville Times
  • On Sept. 26th, 2025, Cherokee Bluff lost its Region 8-3A opener to Oconee County after four lead changes in the final 6:57 of play—leaving them just inches short of victory.  The Gainesville Times
