  • Film Ready Gainesville is hosting Movies at Midland, a free outdoor double feature on the Midland Greenway on Oct. 14 that will show the family comedy Hotel Transylvania at 5 p.m. and the romantic comedy Blended at 7 p.m.—attendees can park at the City’s Main Street or Gainesville North Parking Deck and use the free COOLbus from 4:30-9:15 p.m.—while local vendors serve snacks on site.  97.5 Glory

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Hall County School District held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the new World Language Academy Elementary School—students, staff and local leaders turned the dirt while classes continue at Oakwood Elementary until the building opens in fall.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A complaint was filed against the Hall County Planning and Zoning Commission by citizen Jodi White, alleging that commissioners and staff met without public notice, an agenda, or meeting minutes on Sept. 15.   • Jonathan Elliott + Albert Reeves are running for the Gainesville City Council Ward 2 seat that will open when Zack Thompson becomes mayor in January.  The Gainesville Times
  • Road closures, traffic shifts, and detours will begin next Monday for the new Sardis Connector construction as the state Department of Transportation announced. Southers Road near 3758, Greencrest Road between Woodland and Garden Boulevard, Garden Boulevard as a no outlet, Elrod Drive, and Brackett Drive will be affected+ detour routes are in place.  97.5 Glory

  • Northeast Georgia Health System is expanding its use of AI to ease burnout among health workers; nearly 500 clinicians have been trained to use DAX Copilot—integrated with Epic’s system—to capture patient conversations and create draft notes.  WSB-TV
