- ➤ Atlanta Falcons offensive lineman Chris Lindstrom and his wife Maddison donated a total of $70,000 to Rescue Pals Inc. and Hall County Animal Shelter on Tuesday during an adoption event (a gift far above expectations). - ➤ Recess ended around 12:30 p.m. when the principal at Chestnut Mountain Elementary brought students indoors after hearing distant gunfire—officials said the sound likely came from hunters in the nearby woods. The Gainesville Times

- ➤ The Piedmont Hotel Museum reopened today after a major renovation updated many parts of the James Longstreet Museum—restoring historic features and improved exhibits for visitors. The Gainesville Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of North Georgia set a new record in fall with 20,317 students enrolled, marking the first time it surpassed 20,000 students. UNG reported a 5.3% overall growth from last fall as dual enrollment rose 11% while cadet and graduate enrollments increased to 8.3% and 2.7%, respectively. AccessWDUN

- ➤ Former Gainesville mayor and city council member Danny Dunagan died at age 97.5 just over a month after he resigned his post (Sept. 19) because of health issues. He had served the community since his first election in 2006 and later as mayor from 2013. 97.5 Glory
