- ➤ Hall County Government and the City of Gainesville announced a community food drive from Friday until Nov 25 in partnership with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank to help local families affected by SNAP cuts—donations will be accepted at over 30 drop-off sites in Gainesville and across Hall County during weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AccessWDUN
- ➤ This weekend, many events fill Northeast Georgia with Veterans Day parades, live music, runs and holiday markets in Dahlonega, Cumming and Jefferson—while in Gainesville, families can visit Don Carter State Park on November 8 from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. for Touch-A-Truck Day. AccessWDUN

- ➤ Gainesville is adding a Posada to the Jingle Mingle Holiday Kickoff to celebrate community traditions—this cultural event will include music, candlelight processions, festive foods, and activities and will be held at Crossroads Plaza on November 22 from 4:00 to 8:00. A few days earlier, officials also announced a new chicken and chicks attraction to join the celebration. 97.5 Glory
- ➤ The Northeast Georgia History Center will open its new exhibit 'Threads of Sacrifice: Stories from Northeast Georgia' on Veterans Day to honor veterans from World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. - ➤ The NGHS Center for Simulation and Innovation hosted a human anatomy lab where resident physicians, medical students, first responders and nursing students learned advanced skills using donated tissue. - ➤ Chattahoochee Riverkeeper put out a public service announcement today to let Gainesville residents know that, despite an earthy or musty taste reported by some, the water is safe to drink—experts say the taste does not affect water quality. The Gainesville Times

- ➤ The City of Gainesville approved 159 building permits last month for projects valued at $35.6 million, including 19 permits for new single-family houses worth $4.6 million. Six commercial permits totaling $30 million were issued along with 56 residential permits for $4.8 million. 97.5 Glory
