- ➤ Habitat for Humanity held a ribbon cutting at Habitat Hall on 808 Main Street to open a new space for community events and collaboration. Board Chair Neal Broadwell, Executive Director Lila Weaver, board members, staff and volunteers marked the occasion as the center aims to support affordable housing projects in our area. AccessWDUN
- ➤ Local community members are fighting to clean up a historic cemetery that has fallen into ruin and are urging city officials to act soon. They say the neglected site is an important part of Gainesville's heritage and hope a plan for restoration will be unveiled in the near future. WSB-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Northeast Georgia History Center will open a new permanent exhibit on Nov. 11 that honors veterans from World War I, World War II and the Korean War with uniforms, letters, photographs and personal stories—offering free admission for veterans—and highlighting contributions from local families. 97.5 Glory
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Thirteen Gainesville and Hall County schools were named Literacy Leaders and Math Leaders by the Georgia Department of Education for strong progress in reading and math during the 2024-2025 school year—honors that are based on state test scores and growth in third, fifth, sixth, and eighth grades. Local schools such as Gainesville High and North Hall High earned these awards for meeting key criteria in both achievement and improvement. 97.5 Glory
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lanier Christian football team won its semifinal game over Cherokee Christian and is now aiming for a second GAPPS 11-man title. The team will play Creekside Christian on Nov. 21 in Newnan. The Gainesville Times
- ➤ North Hall swept state titles when Summer Muxlow won the individual championship on Sept. 27 at the North Hall Community Center—while the boys finished as runners-up, showcasing Hall County's strong performance. The Gainesville Times
