Hall County School District provided updates on three renovation projects for Johnson and North Hall High Schools and the World Language Academy primary campus.
Johnson High School will open its new three-story addition in January 2026 while North Hall’s improvements are set to finish in June 2026 and the World Language Academy campus is expected to complete by the start of the 2027 school year — work includes classroom, auxiliary gym, and accessibility upgrades.
Several Hall County schools have been named Literacy Leader and Math Leader Schools for the 2024-25 school year by the Georgia Department of Education—recognizing strong growth in reading and math.
The designations affirm local educators' commitment to boosting student achievement.
🏥 Health
The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper said that Lake Lanier water for local systems was safe for drinking and cooking despite an off taste and odor caused by a seasonal lake turnover — a normal event when surface water mixes with deeper water.
A City of Gainesville advisory confirmed that the water condition was typical for this time of year.

Last week, the Gainesville City Council approved plans to build six new condos in the Hidden Cove subdivision—located off Thompson Bridge Road.
The council's unanimous vote supports new housing in the area.
