- ➤ Lawson Air Conditioning & Plumbing broke ground on its new 64,000 sqft headquarters in Gainesville’s 85 Business Park to house corporate offices, operations, and a training room. - ➤ State agencies are rolling out Narcan (an opioid overdose reversal medication) to every public school, and Hall County and Gainesville City districts are already prepared. Officials say the measure will help protect students from opioid overdoses. The Gainesville Times
- ➤ The Ivester Foundation donated $1.1-million, matched by the UGA Foundation, to fund a new scholarship for UGA School of Medicine students from Hall County. The $2.2-million fund is the largest in the school’s history and will support future doctors. AccessWDUN

- ➤ Flowery Branch boys built a big third-quarter lead and held off Walnut Grove on Dec. 9 in their Region 8-4A game (the Lady Falcons lost in the fourth quarter). The Gainesville Times
- ➤ Brunswick coach Garrett Grady resigned Tuesday after a brawl in a playoff game with Gainesville unsettled the season. Grady, who led the Pirates for nine seasons and won three regional championships, left as the school and athletic department reviewed the incident. WSB-TV
- ➤ Legend Wilmont of the Red Elephants made a critical kick return that set up a touchdown during the Class 5A state quarterfinals on Dec. 5 in Fairburn. His explosive play boosted the team's playoff run and energized local fans. The Gainesville Times
- ➤ Brunswick High football remained eligible for postseason play next year after the GHSA Board overturned 39 player suspensions on Wednesday, Dec. 10 and downgraded its probation to a severe warning, while two players continue a one-game suspension after a playoff brawl with Gainesville.
