  • Lakeview Academy held a ribbon-cutting for its new Tech + Innovation Wing today and attorney Kelly Anne Miles was named 2026 Gainesville Woman of Distinction. Congressman Clyde announced 2025 Congressional App Challenge winners from Buford and Sugar Hill while Lumpkin County will name a road for fallen trooper Chase Redner.  97.5 Glory

CULTURE NEWS

  • Callie Daniel, a Gainesville High School senior, was crowned Belle of the Ball Saturday during the Junior League’s 73rd Annual Charity Ball as one of 13 candidates representing the Kiwanis Club. The event raised a record $465,000.  AccessWDUN

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new Department of Labor analysis showed that Gainesville H-1B workers earned a median wage of $99,819 (ranking the area #176 nationally and 85th among small metros). The top sponsors are Upsilonsoft, the University of North Georgia and Mansfield Oil Company.  97.5 Glory
  • Gas prices in Gainesville fell six cents to $2.71 a gallon from last Monday while the state average dropped three cents to $2.76, according to AAA. The national average reached $2.91 and is the lowest it has been in four years + a welcome relief for holiday drivers.  97.5 Glory

  • A cold weather advisory has set off warming stations as temperatures drop into the teens overnight. In Gainesville, the Salvation Army (711 Dorsey Street) is open until Tuesday night; another in Cumming operated Sunday night, and Gwinnett is offering help in Buford (2755 Sawnee Avenue).  97.5 Glory
